Ostrava February 25, 2011 A group of handicapped children has attended a training session of Vitkovice Steel Hockey Club. The visit was organized by the Evraz Charity Fund, an organization founded by EVRAZ VITKOVICE STEEL (EVS).
Twenty children from special institutions in the Moravian-Silesian region (BENJAMIN Petrvald, SANTE Havirov, Studenka Primary School, and the Special Primary School and Special Kindergarten in Novy Jicin) watched the closed training session. The children met the players and had a group photo taken with them. The day was hosted by the popular children's character Bob the Builder. The children were also given hockey-related gifts.
„I'm glad that we can do something to improve the life of children who have not been as lucky as their peers," says Zbynek Kvapik, CEO and Chairman of the Board of EVS. "We organized a similar event last year and we will definitely continue supporting other such projects for children in the future."
Darja Kuncova, Head of the BENJAMIN centre, adds: "Today's event helps handicapped children to be more integrated into society and gives them a chance to meet interesting people, which improves their social skills."
The Evraz Charity Fund was established in 2006 with the purpose of supporting the long-term development of the Moravian Silesian Region, with the emphasis on the areas of social life, culture, science, education, sports and business environment. The Evraz Charity Fund was founded by EVRAZ VITKOVICE STEEL.
