EVRAZ Charity Fund announced the new round for receiving applications for 2012

Ostrava. The Evraz Charity Fund (ECF), whose founder is EVRAZ VÍTKOVICE STEEL, newly invites the applicants for a grant to submit their applications twice a year and not only once, which was the case in the past. The number of applicants for grants from ECF as well as the number of sponsored projects has been increasing every year since the foundation of ECF in 2006. However, last year there was a sharp increase in applications and in sponsored projects almost by 50%. At the same time, the ECF Board of Trustees notices the acute need of non-profit organizations to ensure their financial support even during the calendar year. In order to satisfy the current need in the area of support for the non-profit sector, this year ECF will give two calls for submission of applications – the first one in April and the second one in October. For approved projects of the first call is prepared for distribution 4.5 million crowns.

Organizations from the Moravian-Silesian region that are helping handicapped children and children with cerebral palsy can submit their projects by April 30, 2012. At the same time, applications for mini-grants can be submitted by the employees of EVRAZ VÍTKOVICE STEEL as well. “We notice the uneasy situation of the majority of non-profit organizations in financing and so we have decided that we would do the administrative process of receiving and evaluating the applications twice in a year and not only once, which was the case in the past” said Dmitrij Scuka, the Chairman of the ECF Board of Trustees.

For this year the EVRAZ Charity Fund already supported 60 projects from the entire Moravian-Silesian region with a total amount of CZK 8.9 million. The range of supported projects is very wide and includes, for example, purchase of a vehicle for transport of persons with severe health handicaps, then an ultrasound examination equipment for the children’s surgical ward or equipment for interactive classrooms.
