Ostrava, August 17, 2010 Evraz Charity Fund announced another call for the application for grants. The contribution in the total amount of 9 million CZK is aimed especially at disadvantaged and handicapped children, suffering especially from cerebral palsy. The applications shall be delivered by October 11th, 2010 the grants will be selected and distributed by the end of 2010.
Evraz Charity Fund was established in 2006 by EVRAZ VÍTKOVICE STEEL with the aim to support the long-term development of the Moravian-Silesian region, especially in social affairs, culture, science and education, sports, healthcare and business environment. "Even though the list of activities supported by Evraz Charity Fund is quite long, we decided to continue with our support of projects aimed at handicapped children and young people, especially suffering from cerebral palsy," says Zbyněk Kvapík, CEO of EVRAZ VÍTKOVICE STEEL. "With this call we would like to address the regional organisations which are active in this area and the financial contribution can help them to improve the quality of care, extend their medical programmes or open new possibilities for the adaptation of handicapped children to the society," added Mr. Kvapik.
Last year the Fund selected 39 projects of 34 organizations and contributed with 8.9 million CZK. Organizations from all over the Moravian-Silesian region were among the successful applicants. The financial contribution ranged from dozens to hundred thousand CZK, University Hospital Ostrava with the project of sonographic machine for the children‘s neurology clinic received 1.5 million CZK or Sports complex for physically handicapped children in Metylovice medical centre, which received 800,000 CZK, were among the biggest projects supported by the Evraz Charity Fund.
