TECHNICAL FIELDS HAVE PERSPECTIVE AND A FUTURE

Ostrava 7 December 2007 - The company EVRAZ VÍTKOVICE STEEL is participating in the 14th Annual presentational exhibition for education and training UČEŇ, STŘEDOŠKOLÁK, VYSOKOŠKOLÁK 2007 (APPRENTICE, SECONDARY SCHOOL STUDENT, UNIVERSITY STUDENT 2007), which will be held 7-8 December 2007 at Výstaviště Černá louka (Exhibition Grounds Černá louka) in Ostrava. The goal of the exhibition is to present interested parties with the array of apprentice, secondary vocational and university education in the context of the Moravia-Silesia Region as well as presenting specialized programs from various districts throughout the entire Czech Republic, including studies abroad. This year, for the first time, companies with a technical field concentration that are operating in our region will have their own presentation space. The exhibition should help pupils, students, and their parents when making the difficult decision regarding how to select a future profession.

"We present our company to those interested from an array of students at the exhibition, including the production program as well as study fields which have perspective for our company from the standpoint of future employment," says the personal director, Jan Polzer, and, he adds: "Just like other companies in our region, we feel the potential lack of technical and especially metallurgical professions on the market and that is one of the reasons we are participating in the exhibition."  The overall concept of EVRAZ VÍTKOVICE STEEL's presentational exhibition booth as well as the dynamic multi-media presentation is adapted to target precisely the younger generation.

The company EVRAZ VÍTKOVICE STEEL has long worked with Secondary Technical School in Ostrava - Hrabůvka and they jointly offer studies to those interested in a 4-year program for metallurgist operator with a graduation examination and a 3-year program for metallurgist steel-worker and metal roller. "Currently preparing for our company are 23 students in the 4-year course for metallurgist operator with graduation examination," adds Jan Polzer and, he continues: "We offer hiring bonuses to successful graduates who join our company, the amount of which depends on the benefit attained."

Next academic year, EVRAZ VÍTKOVICE STEEL will provide a contribution to all 1st year students in selected metallurgical fields who are studying at Střední škola technicka in Ostrava - Hrabůvka for them to purchase classroom aids and for ski lessons.

For university graduates in technical fields, EVRAZ VÍTKOVICE STEEL offers an annual adaptation process in "Centre Preparation." Here graduates acquire not just theoretical, but also practical experience in the metallurgy field, becoming acquainted with the running of the company and with all the vocational activities of individual departments. The possibility of attaining long-term employment is also offered to successful graduates.
