The EVRAZ Charity Fund (ECF) signed agreements with non-profit organizations in the Moravian-Silesian Region to provide financial support in the amount of 5.3 million CZK for projects i

For the second time this year representatives of non-profit organizations in the Moravian-Silesian Region met with EVRAZ Charity Fund (ECF) management to sign a charitable contribution designation, representing in total 5.3 million CZK to support their activities. From a total of 89 applications requesting 13 million CZK, the Board of Trustees selected 41 projects aiming to help the Moravian-Silesian Region. Together with the selected projects from the first round of ECF funds allocated in the spring, a total of 9 million CZK to support 73 projects dealing with disabled children, education and sports were allocated. In addition to the aforementioned projects, ECF funded curative and therapeutic stays of children from the Mariánské Hory and Hulváky districts totalling almost 1 million CZK.

Successful applicants include not only organizations from Ostrava, but also from other cities in the Moravian-Silesian Region: Bruntál, Třinec, Havířov, Karviná, Studénka, Opava, Frýdek-Místek, etc. There the funds primarily help support disabled children, particularly with cerebral palsy, but also both the regular and special education of children in all years of school. The scope of assistance is quite wide, and supported projects include, for example, a stair platform for disabled children in preschool in Frýdek-Místek, and classroom computer equipment at the Faculty of Metallurgy and Materials Engineering at VŠB-Technical University of Ostrava. Every year successful applicants include organizations that have been repeatedly granted funds. Dmitrij Scuka, Chairman of the Board of Trustees said, “When making decisions on the project funding the Board of Trustees is obliged to match as closely as possible the conditions set by the ECF status. Another criteria is to what extent a given project can help our region and the people living in it. We welcome that the applications are the result of a long-term concept, which, for example, may significantly improve the lives of disabled children in the Moravian-Silesian Region.“

For the second time in the Fund‘s history, ECF funded the programme projects entitled “Evraz People Help”, which were nominated by the employees of the Fund founder, EVRAZ company. A condition is active participation of an applicant-employee in the implementation of the project. The applications received were first assessed by the Advisory Board, which subsequently recommended the selected projects to the Board of Trustees. EVRAZ employees received a total of 400 thousand CZK for 17 projects. A member of the ECF Board of Trustees, Hana Hoblíková, Human Resource Director at EVRAZ VÍTKOVICE STEEL, commented, “We really appreciate the company employees who manage to find time to help others even during this challenging time.”

ECF is part of the global activities of socially responsible EVRAZ plc.
