EVRAZ VÍTKOVICE STEEL, a.s. is a leading steelworks company producing steel and rolled sections, and it is the biggest producer of heavy plates in the Czech Republic.

The objective of our company in the area of the environment protection is to achieve and maintain, through a systemized approach, such control and organization level which will enable to minimize negative effects of our industrial activity to the environment and which will improve the production quality, the work safety level and the living conditions in the Ostrava region that is burdened by industrial activity.

The senior management of EVRAZ VÍTKOVICE STEEL, a.s. considers environment protection as one of the priorities of the company control and in compliance with the strategic objectives it defines the principles as follows:

• Observation of legislative requirements for environment protection as the basis for continuous improvement of the environmental profile of our company.
• Provide and develop such products which do not have negative impact on the environment and which may be recycled, repeatedly used or safely disposed.
• In cooperation with specialized work-sites develop, operate equipment, and carry activities with respect to efficient use of energy and materials, environment friendly approach and respecting the principle of a sustainable use of secondary resources.
• Provide information on environmental issues to the shareholders, employees, customers, the public, public authorities, and NGOs.
• Ensure removal or minimization of impacts of old environmental burdens after the abolished industrial activities.
• Through prophylaxis prevent occasions for origin of extraordinary situations whose consequences could have a negative impact on the environment and health of the employees.
• Motivate and systematically increase professional knowledge and responsibility of our employees with respect to environment protection.
• Continuously improve the processes of environmental control and environmental profile in accordance with the latest scientific and technical knowledge, requirements of the customers and expectations of the public.

The senior management of EVRAZ VÍTKOVICE STEEL, a.s. undertakes to define and review the environmental objectives and target values and provide the necessary resources.
