Is the steel-making industry in crisis? Because today in the Czech Republic for example there is a lack of crap? Because it is exported and its domestic price is growing? It is not a crisis. It is a consequence of worldwide globalization of industry and economy or better to say side effect of big changes in this industry.

VÍTKOVICE STEEL, a.s., noted a record level of increase of sales up to 50% at supplies for the ship-building industry in the first three months of the year. This increase was caused mainly by increased requirements for production of ship-building plates in Hot Rolling Mills in VÍTKOVICE STEEL, a.s.

At the end of February, OSINEK, a.s. the majority owner of VÍTKOVICE STEEL, a.s. paid back to the account of the Czech Consolidation Agency another 200 million crowns from the loan used for financing of engineering contracts of the Vítkovice, a.s. holding.

These days VÍTKOVICE STEEL, a.s., completed dispatching of 5 000 tons of steel plates with guaranteed quality X52 to Egypt. With this contract, the experts from Vítkovice entered a new market segment.

Starting on January 1, 2004, VÍTKOVICE STEEL, a.s. started functioning on new principles. Their business strategy, which is unique in this country, is a result of an extensive internal audit, which the top management of the company organized in 2003.
