Handicapped children attended training of hockey players

This is the third season, in which handicapped children were given the chance to meet their sports idols at the HC VÍTKOVICE STEEL training. They watched the players practice and enjoyed the additional program prepared just for them. The event was brought about by the EVRAZ Charity Fund in cooperation with the hockey team and was organized for those children, whom the Charity Fund supports. Twenty accompanied children accepted the invitation to come to the ČEZ Arena on October 17th, 2012. They came from the SANTÉ Center for Ambulatory and Social Services in Havířov, the Citizens’ Association of the Children Center in Kopřivnice, from Sagapo in Bruntál and from the Eunika Center at the Silesian Diaconate in Karvinná. “Handicapped children are quite often avid fans of any sport. They react very excitedly to what is happening on the ice rink and what the players are doing. Such meeting are full of positive emotions on both sides,” said Dmitrij Ščuka, the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the EVRAZ Charity Fund. “We make our best effort, besides supporting their therapeutic and rehabilitation institutions, to be in direct contact with these children via various events and to give them that way a certain form of entertainment and distraction, which can be later reflected positively in their health,”  added D. Ščuka.
