23.7.2007 - A WORLD MIRACLE OF TECHNOLOGY - the “COMPOSITE” ARCH BRIDGE NEAR DUNAÚJVÁROS

On Monday, July 23, 2007 the longest bridge over the river Danube was officially put into operation in Hungary near Dunaújváros, under the presence of the Hungarian Prime Minister, Mr.Ferenc Gyurcsány.

The bridge forms a part of the Motorway M8 and its construction was commenced in 2004. Its central part was assembled on the river bank (9 000 t steel construction) and in December 2006 it was turned over the river Danube and connected to the opposite river bank. The steel construction was assembled by the company GanzAcél ZRT.

In 2005 and 2006, through the company ThyssenKruppFerroglobus, Evraz Vítkovice Steel delivered altogether 3 000 t of steel material (grades S355J2G3 and S355K2G3), of which 2 300 t of steel plates and 700 t shaped burnouts.
