The Heavy Section Mill was commisioned in 1914 and since that time the mill has passed trough several modernizations. After 1990, thanks to extensive technical improvements, the quality of the supplied sections has improved significantly. Achange in rolling of economical sections with parallel flanges with the use of a universal reversal stand equipped with a control system resulted in an expansion of the product range by beams of the IPE, HEA and HEB types. In the area of the traditional sheet pile production the existing types were amended with a new VL 600 types.

The technology of the Section Rolling Mill includes a flame-cutting machine that prepares input material by longitudinal cutting of our own continuous cast slabs to the required width. This technological procedure covers most of the stock, the rest is covered by purchasing external stock.

The rolling train consists of 4 reversal two-high stands. The last stand can be used as universal for rolling of beams.

The annual production capacity represents 170 000 tons of rolled sections.

Rolled sections are supplied in lengths up to 24 m. Sections quality grades include mainly standard structural grades, carbon and micro-alloyed grades. Our sections are used mainly in structural engineering, mechanical engineering, automotive industry, mining and extractions industry and in other industrial sectors.

Sections supplied by EVRAZ VÍTKOVICE STEEL, a. s. are produced as per a certified system in accordance with the requirements of EN ISO 9001:2000 and EN ISO 14001:1996. The sections meet also other demanding requirements of the customers and the effective legislation.
