We are introducing energy management
It is not just about finding savings, but mainly about the strategic approach of a modern manufacturing company.
Energy consumption is one of the biggest global problems of our time. Not only is it growing every year, but it is also the main cause of greenhouse gas emissions and other negative impacts on the environment. That is why the management of VÍTKOVICE STEEL decided last year to implement systematic energy management using the ČSN EN ISO 50001 standard, which makes sense not only ecologically but also economically.
The ČSN EN ISO 50001 standard is an internationally recognised standard that provides organisations with a framework for implementing an energy management system. The main objective is to help companies and institutions improve their energy efficiency, reduce energy costs and, at the same time, limit the impact of their activities on the environment.
One of the key principles is improving energy performance, i.e. energy consumed in relation to output. This is not only a technical issue, but above all a strategic one. The implementation of energy management enables companies to understand how and where they consume energy and to identify specific opportunities to reduce waste.
The main benefits of implementing an ISO 50001 system include:
- Energy cost savings through more efficient management
- Reduction of emissions and environmental impact
- Increased operational efficiency and improved corporate image
- Compliance with legislative requirements and preparation for future regulations
- Eligibility for subsidies and preferential financing
At a time of rising energy prices, climate challenges and growing corporate social responsibility, energy management is not only a tool for reducing costs, but also a fully-fledged strategic pillar of a modern manufacturing company. It helps organisations manage energy intelligently, strategically and sustainably. And that is precisely where its strength lies.
As the introduction to the standard itself states: „The implementation of an energy management system enables an organisation to create a framework for improving energy performance and using energy more efficiently.“ Today, this is the path that more and more responsible companies are taking, and it may soon become a necessity.
