Evraz Charity Fund is receiving applications for grants for 2012

Ostrava, 29 September 2011 The Evraz Charity Fund, which was established by EVRAZ VITKOVICE STEEL, announced a new call for grant applications. Organizations from the Moravian-Silesian Region helping handicapped children and children with cerebral palsy can submit their projects by 31 October 2011. For the first time employees of EVRAZ VITKOVICE STEEL will also be able to submit their projects.

This year the Evraz Charity Fund is celebrating five years from its establishment. The fund has been supporting long-term development in the Moravian-Silesian Region, especially in social affairs, culture, science and education, sports, healthcare and the business environment. "For the last three years we have focused our attention on the support of children with cerebral palsy," said Zbynek Kvapik, Chairman of the Board of the Evraz Charity Fund. "Our aim is also to involve the employees more in the Fund's activities. Therefore, we have decided to support our employees which help in various organizations and to enable them to also submit their projects," added Mr. Kvapik.

This year the Evraz Charity Fund selected 42 projects from throughout the Moravian-Silesian Region. The Metylovice Special Medical Centre was among the selected projects. Thanks to the Fund's contribution it is building a barrier-free entrance to the children's swimming pool accessible to handicapped children in wheelchairs. The Evraz Charity Fund also supports canis therapy (treatment through contact with dogs) and hippo therapy (treatment through horseback riding) as well as many projects of special elementary schools and kindergartens for handicapped children in the region.
