EVRAZ VITKOVICE STEEL, a. s. signed Declaration about understanding in approach towards air protection in Moravian Silesian region

- EVRAZ VITKOVICE STEEL has signed a declaration with the deputy marshal of the Moravian Silesian region expressing their agreement in approach to the problem of air protection. The company joins other industrial companies which are voluntarily cutting down on their production even before the smog situation is announced in the region. In so doing, such companies will minimize dust production in their plants once the so-called ‘danger signal’ is given – which is to say even before it becomes obligatory under law and approved rules of regulation.

“Our company has been an integral part of the Moravian Silesian region for long time and we consider social responsibility one of our priorities. We strive to act responsibly towards the region and to minimize the possible impact of steel production on the environment,” says Zbyněk Kvapik, CEO and chairman of the board of EVRAZ VITKOVICE STEEL.

For a considerable time now, EVRAZ VITKOVICE STEEL has committed itself to a number of social responsibility programs for the development of Moravian Silesian region – for example with its Evraz Charity Fund – and it considers this support essential.

“The signing of this declaration is a further step in our socially-responsible activities in Moravian Silesian region. In accordance with the declaration, we will put in place measures for the reduction of secondary dust pollution from our plants while adhering to standards of workplace safety and the safety of machine operations, and while keeping to our contractual obligations,” Mr. Kvapik adds.
