MANAGEMENT AND TRADE UNIONS IN VÍTKOVICE STEEL, a.s. AGREED ON THE COLLECTIVE AGREEMENT

VÍTKOVICE STEEL, a.s. completed collective bargaining of terms and conditions for 2004 and the subsequent two years. The management agreed with the trade unions that nominal wages and salaries will increase this year by 3.9 percent.

At the same time it was agreed that in case of a substantial change in inflation above the level of increase in the nominal value of wages and salaries, both parties may reopen the negotiations and discuss on new conditions for determination of nominal wages.

After a long and difficult negotiation, the trade unions in VÍTKOVICE STEEL, a.s. were successful in negotiating also other social benefits. The employees will retain the contribution to pension rider, but the contribution will increase from last year’s 100 to 300 crowns. The five-week paid leave and increased severance allowance will be also maintained. Trade unions defended also increase in allowance for night shifts from 13 crowns per hour to 14 crowns per hour and higher allowance for work in difficult and deleterious environment which will be increased from 6.40 crowns per hour to 7 crowns per hour. This means that wages and salaries in VÍTKOVICE STEEL, a.s. could reach 20 thousand crowns on condition that all parameters of the business plan are fulfilled.
