PRODUCTION OF FLAME-CUT SHAPES IN VÍTKOVICE STEEL, a.s., WILL GROW BY 40% AGAINST 2003

The year-on-year increase in production of flame-cut shapes in VÍTKOVICE STEEL, a.s., in 2003 was almost 45 %. This year, the flame-cut shapes center expects year-on-year increase of another at least 40 %.

Achieving this positive result was possible thanks to purchasing and commissioning of two new flame-cutting machines and modernization of two current ones, including development of the entire background facilities – i.e., adaptations of halls and work-sites, procurement of manipulation equipment and adaptations of the existing cranes for new activities, etc. in the total value of approx. 45 million CZK. Despite the latter, the current demand for flame-cut shapes from VÍTKOVICE STEEL, a.s., is higher than the offer...

“Thanks to the last year’s modernization and procurement of new machines, the flame-cut shapes center is now one of the most modern ones in this industrial branch,” says Milan Dorna, head of the flame-cut shapes center. “Besides really intricate cut shapes with many openings and radii we offer to our clients also the latest technology of beveling of edges which brings significant cost savings for the customer. This new technology is applied mostly on edges designed for subsequent welding which up to now were processed by a chip-technology which is much more expensive,” added Dorna.

Flame-cut shapes in VÍTKOVICE STEEL, a.s., are produced exclusively from our own plates. Plates coming from the 3.5 Four-High Mill have thickness from 5 mm to 80 mm and width approx. up to 3 200 mm, in case of plates from the Two-High Mill the width is approx. up to 4 200 mm and thickness up to 250 mm. The demand for these products comes mainly from machine engineering companies – approximately one third of the production is placed on domestic markets and two thirds are designed for export. VÍTKOVICE STEEL already has a project for further increasing of the capacity of the flame-cut shapes center in VÍTKOVICE STEEL.
