VÍTKOVICE STEEL, a.s., EXERTS NEW BUSINESS STRATEGY

Starting on January 1, 2004, VÍTKOVICE STEEL, a.s. started functioning on new principles. Their business strategy, which is unique in this country, is a result of an extensive internal audit, which the top management of the company organized in 2003.

The recommendations arising from the analysis clearly emphasized the necessity to very quickly concentrate the strength on the main priorities – dynamically increase productivity, value added, and consequently also the value of the company before the privatization. By using the synergic effects resulting from the new business strategy, VÍTKOVICE STEEL, a.s. is overcoming another milestone in a transformation into a prosperous European company.

“The main contribution of the changes is a thorough implementation of the market requirements in production. This means to reduce costs and to convince the customers about higher speed and flexibility,” said Vladimír Bail, Chairman of the Board of Directors and CEO, VÍTKOVICE STEEL, a.s. “Through a better use of technical, technological, human and space capacity we will make meeting the needs of the clients more effective,” added Bail.

The changes in the means of communication with the clients enable more efficient use of modern marketing tools and create pressure to simplify the existing links inside VÍTKOVICE STEEL, a.s. At the same time the changes also systematically suppress anonymity in decision making processes. Flexible solution of all needs of the existing as well as new customers with respect to quality, volume, and deadline requirements of job orders has become a clear task for the sales teams. The objective is to carry out the same number of tasks with lower overhead costs in total, increase the growth of productivity, increase the growth of value added and profit.
