These days VÍTKOVICE STEEL, a.s., completed dispatching of 5 000 tons of steel plates with guaranteed quality X52 to Egypt. With this contract, the experts from Vítkovice entered a new market segment.
This delivery meets the strict American standard API 5L (American Petroleum Institute) for special pipeline tubes (used for construction of petroleum and gas pipelines, where the manufacturer must guarantee resistance to pressure, vibrations, and demands for chemical composition of the material). The plates are designed for tubes with a diameter up to 580 mm.
„High quality documented by references and reliability of our production from the 3.5 Four-High rolling mill, together with the price were the decisive factors in the struggle with the competitors,” said Vladimír Bail, Chairman of the Board of Directors and CEO, VÍTKOVICE STEEL, a.s. „We have another promise for a job order of plates in the grade X65 with the volume of 5,500 tons. An important driver for the preparation of a long-term contract not only in this case is satisfaction of the customer with the quality of our work and with the cooperation as such” added Bail.
The contract which was preceded by tough negotiations in December last year is a successful climax of VÍTKOVICE STEEL, a.s. activities to enter a club of “bonus” suppliers as per the API 5L standards. The second contract, which has been contracted already, confirms the validity of the new strategy of export and orientation on new perspective markets. The implementation shall be completed in the middle of March 2004. Interesting (or lucrative) export job orders require high quality of products as well as observation of the just-in-time principle of deliveries.
