VÍTKOVICE STEEL IS THE ONLY CZECH COMPANY THAT PRESENTED ITSELF TO THE MILITARY

Vigorous rhythmical music with the dominant sound of drums, marching solders in elegant uniforms, off-road combat vehicles in action, hovercrafts, all types of ammunition, scale-models of ocean ships and submarines, torpedos, rockets and displays of military defense systems…Such literally combat atmosphere governed this year’s fair at Balt – Military – Expo 2005, which was held between 22 and 24 June in Gdansk. This exhibition has been organized since 1998 by Miedzynarodowe Targi Gdańskie SA with the cooperation of the Polish naval forces, frontier guards, police, fire fighters and the Polish association of suppliers for the civil defense sector.

This year’s exhibition was attended by 150 exhibitors from 12 countries such as USA, Germany, France, Sweden and Norway, who had a chance to present themselves on several thousand square meters. The most important exhibitors included BAE SYSTEMS, BLOHM+VOSS, SAAB, STOCZNIA POLNOCNA and THYSSENKRUPP.

And VÍTKOVICE STEEL was also there as the only Czech civilian company. „The presenters were mainly from the military sector, either representatives of the army, or naval forces and air forces,“ says Ing. Dagmar Špičková, a sales manager of VÍTKOVICE STEEL. „The representation of civilian companies who came here to present themselves was significantly lower,“ adds Ing. Špičková. And it was the presentation of products for the shipbuilding industry which was the main reason for the participation of VÍTKOVICE STEEL at the exhibition. The company has been supplying its plates for ocean ships since the beginning of the last century. „We would like to continue in this tradition. Currently we are supplying approximately up to 170 thousand tons of very high-quality ship-building plates for various ocean ships and ferry boats and we would like to get new customers,” adds Ing. Špičková. And the fact that not only high-quality plates, but also sections and cut shapes attracted attention at this specific fair is evidenced by the number of negotiations carried out in the company’s exposition. The modern design of the exposition, like at the Norwegian fair Nor Shipping, was expressing the approach of the company to the world – it expressed its energy, boldness to drive new ways and maximum focus on the needs of the customer. And this is the cornerstone of successful communication with the clients.
