VÍTKOVICE STEEL PAYS BONUSES TO THE EMPLOYEES

VÍTKOVICE STEEL has decided to increase productivity and value added by proper motivation of the employees. The company has paid 4000 crowns on average per employee as extra bonuses for the results achieved in the first quarter and 3000 crowns per employee for the results achieved in the second quarter.

“Bonuses connected with increase of value added form a part of the collective agreement for the years 2004 – 2006 while the wage and salary part for the next year will be negotiated with the bargaining committee each year from September” explained Lenka Hatlapatkova, press spokeswoman for VÍTKOVICE STEEL.

This collective agreement includes also a provision on increasing the employer’s contribution for the pension rider for employees from 100 to 300 crowns, but only 1 017 from the total of 1 620 employees have asked for this contribution. “The people should know how to use all advantages offered by the company. It is a pity that approx. 600 people are loosing this money each months,” added Jan Polzer, personnel director of VÍTKOVICE STEEL. Another positive change is also an increase in the catering contribution for the employees as of July 1, 2004 from the current 26 crowns to 31 crowns and increased severance for continuous employment with the company for employees whose employment was terminated within organization changes because of redundancy. “A person working in VÍTKOVICE STEEL between 10 and 15 years is entitled, besides the mandatory severance, to another 3 monthly wages and those working here for more than 30 years will get up to 5 more wages,” said the personnel director.

VÍTKOVICE STEEL offers to its employees also 5 weeks of paid leave and recondition stays in the spas in Luhačovice and Bardějov. The recondition stays are granted as per the principles stipulated in the “Health Program” primarily to the employees who are working at the worksites exposed to risk factors with negative impact on health. In the first half, 49 employees used the offer of the spa stays. This means that each year the company pays the recondition stays for some one hundred employees, and furthermore, the company provides 5 days of paid leave for each spa stay.
