“We are artists” – Therapeutic workshops for handicapped children and youth

On April 24, 2012, within the framework of a series of accompanying activities for children from the sponsored organizations, Euraz Charity Foundation organized therapeutic workshops. The second year of a project named “We are artists” was held again in cooperation with the Artistic School in Ostrava-Mariánské Hory.

Under the leadership of experienced therapists, the children had an opportunity to test the effects of ergo therapy which is aimed at meaningful engagement of an individual in work activities. During this artistic work the children made an artifact which they could carry home as a present afterwards. During musical therapy the children were relaxing with the help of rhythms and sounds and dance therapy gave them the opportunity to try various locomotor activities – to express themselves by dancing. The children could also try canine therapy – therapeutic contact with dogs. At the end the organizers prepared an entertaining activating drama-therapeutic performance in which some of the children actively participated and performed a wolf or the Little Red Riding Hood.
